Summer Reading

We've been waiting for the paperback to come out, and now finally it's the turn of The Sense of an Ending, by Julian Barnes -  Man Booker Prize winner 2011. It's quite a short read so some people are carrying on reading The Memory of Love by Aminatta Forna.
Reading group guides are easily found on the internet, and Julian Barnes' website is also an interesting read.

Senior Reading Group Choice for February/March

The main choice this time is The Help by Kathryn Stockett - 'a vanished and unjust world: Jackson, Mississippi, 1962. Where black maids raise white children, but aren't trusted not to steal the silver... '

Also, as some people have already read The Help, The Memory of Love by Aminatta Forna, set in Sierra Leone.

An ongoing project running alongside the usual choices is a Dickens book to celebrate the author's 200th birthday, and people have chosen to read Great Expectations and/or The Pickwick Papers.
