Where black maids raise white children, but aren't trusted not to steal the silver... ' Also, as some people have already read The Help, The Memory of Love by Aminatta Forna, set in Sierra Leone.
An ongoing project running alongside the usual choices is a Dickens book to celebrate the author's 200th birthday, and people have chosen to read Great Expectations and/or The Pickwick Papers.
